Preem Selects Infor M3 to Help Fuel its Transition to Renewables

Infor, a leading provider of beautiful business applications specialized by industry and built for the cloud, today announced that Preem, the largest fuel company in Sweden, has invested in Infor M3 to help modernize central parts of its system landscape. The investment further aims to standardize the information and process model, harmonize finance, and the interface between Preem’s two profit centers Supply & Refinery and Marketing & Sales. The solution will be deployed across the organization in Sweden for 600 users. The investment in Infor M3 is part of Preem’s change management program SVAR*.

Preem plans to deploy the entire Infor product suite for its business, including supply chain, financial budgeting, planning and consolidation, and Customer Relationship Management (CRM). “Preem is looking to reduce complexity through using standard solutions to the highest degree possible,” said Catarina Lotse, Program Director at Preem. “We need sustainable and cost efficiency in handling new legislation and to support our strategic development toward new markets such as renewables.”

As the largest fuel company in Sweden with nearly half of all fuel consumed in Sweden produced by Preem, the company is a key player in the transition to renewables. Sales of gasoline, diesel, fuel oil and lubricating oil in the Swedish market take place through Preem’s own marketing channels and by certified resellers and gas stations. Preem has a nationwide network of around 600 filling stations for private and commercial traffic. Being a major fuel producer combined with the fact that the transport sector accounts for one-third of the Swedish climate gas emissions, Preem works extensively with reducing emissions of greenhouse gases and minimize the environmental impact in all stages. Thus, balancing of supply and demand in the supply chain is a key business challenge that will be addressed with Infor M3 and Infor’s best of breed solutions within Supply Chain Planning.

Key News Points

  • Infor M3 will help provide Preem with full transparency of actual inventory levels across the entire supply chain.
  • Infor M3 will help support analysis across the supply chain all the way to the end customer’s.
  • Infor M3 will provide traceability of products down to the lowest level.

Preem will use Infor ION®, a flexible middleware platform, which allows the application to act as a single resource for reporting and analysis without the need to manually consolidate information. ION also manages business workflows and events from all included applications as well as a connection to Cloud and other external devices.

The implementation of Infor M3 as the core in Preem’s new business solution will be carried through in a joint program between Infor and Preem. The implementation is planned to take place in three major transitions to successively realize value and fast return on investment.

“We are honored that Preem has selected Infor as its partner for such an important business transformation project,” said Malte Ekedahl, Sales Director, Infor. “Preem was looking to reduce complexity and getting support for their supply chain and prepare for future strategic development toward new markets. Preem is one of the largest new customers for Infor in the Nordic region in recent years and we are proud that they have chosen Infor M3 as the new business solution across its organization.”

SVAR is an abbreviation for an internal project with the purpose to achieve efficient management of volumes, business and accounting. Bakers AS Standardizes on Infor

Infor, a leading provider of beautiful business applications specialized by industry and built for the cloud, today announced that Bakers AS, Norway’s largest bakery group and a subsidiary of Norway’s largest retail chain, NorgesGruppen ASA, has gone live on Infor M3 ERP. Delivered on time and on budget, Infor M3, alongside Infor Warehouse Mobility, is set to increase purchasing control, help reduce waste by cutting over-production; and help improve both productivity and the quality of financial data for analysis.

Following a thorough review of the market, with support from NorgesGruppen Data AS, Bakers chose Infor M3 on the basis of the industry specific functionality it offered, the established track record of Infor within the baking industry and the low total cost of ownership.

The hosted application has been implemented in two phases, covering first the core operational modules, followed by additional functionality. Extensive testing was carried out prior to going live and over 350 users are set to interact with the application across 12 sites.

Ole H Neergaard, IT director, Bakers AS said: “Throughout the selection and deployment of a new ERP system, the user experience has been a driving force.  We chose M3 not only because it suits our purpose but it was notably less bloated than some of the alternatives that we looked at, and enabled us to proceed with only a very few minor modifications, both of which mean less demands on the staff on the factory floor.  This is despite us adding modules for purchasing, inventory, production planning and production support.

This approach has enabled us to not only implement the application on time and on budget but also to get workers that had never worked with PCs, using technology on a daily basis. We are seeing constant improvements.”

Einar Broch, sales director, Norway, Infor said, “Our focus on micro-verticals and a strategy of no customizations has led to ERP software keenly aligned to the needs of industries with very specific requirements and dynamics, such as baking.  Businesses like Bakers work at a huge scale and this means that implementation must be just as aligned to the business as the software. This combination of leaner software and a focused implementation methodology is proven time and again to deliver results quicker.”
